How we work
Employment First Aid is the only service in Australia dedicated to helping young people stay in work. The service is 100% free and anonymous. Our team of friendly and professional mentors help young people resolve personal and workplace issues that are affecting their ability to stay in work. We deliver skills & support through Employment First Aid’s own series of interactive tools to develop employment skills, endurance and resilience.

What people say about us….
I like the concept of the program, I can see how the program will benefit the Youth & our community as a whole. Will be more than happy to use the program if any issues arise with any of my young Employees in the future.

It’s great to see something like this put in place! Going into the workforce can be very daunting for young people. It’s good to know there is support out there for not only our students, but our youth in general.
– Peter, High School Guidance Councillor.
Fantastic program! Good to see there is support out there for our youth, especially the ones already working. Hopefully employers get behind this!
– Ashleigh, Local Café Manager.
I believe our students and all students need a helping hand. The schools do the best they can, but its excellent to have Mentors to help our youth.
– Natasha Steinhard,Head of Student Support, Hervey Bay High School.
Suthers George are passionate about developing youth in their chosen career. We have been able to achieve this goal with the assistance of Employment first Aid who have worked collaboratively with management and the youthful employee’s. The employment first Aid team have coached and mentored our youth and given us some great ideas for development activities.

I’d like to say a massive thank you to the team at Employment First Aid, for their advice regarding my resume and cover letter. I was previously working in a seasonal job within the agricultural industry and wanted something more permanent. I had been applying for many full-time positions, but never seemed to get to the interview stage. I felt my resume and cover letter may have been the reason for this. I was recommended Employment First Aid and contacted them directly to see if they could help me out. I met with the team onsite at IMPACT and they gave me some advice on how to draft a professional resume & cover letter. With the changes recommended to me by the team, I began job hunting again. I am proud to say that I am now employed full-time, with a local banking institution. I believe the advice the team gave, assisted me in securing this job.
Thanks again, Employment First Aid!

Simon has been extremely helpful with many aspects of the business. He has mentored our younger team members always encouraging them to be the best they can but also providing them with ways to improve. He is able to help the youth with uniforms which is important for their self esteem, it also helps us as managers as our team looks presentable. Simon is always approachable and very friendly and from a managers point of view a great asset to the business. He has given us an understanding of how the youth think and how we can all work together to achieve a great work environment.
– Lisa, Owner of the Dock Restaurant.
I just want to say thank you to Employment First Aid for everything you have done for MaKenzee and our family. You have turned our lives around and helped us when we thought there was nowhere else to go. Employment First Aid is an asset to Hervey Bay and its youth and we are forever grateful. You should be proud of what you have achieved for us because we are. Thank you!

The valuable information provided by the Employment First Aid mentor to our groups of trainees has helped them reflect on their behaviour at work and understand some of the roles and responsibilities of employment. The opportunity for 1:1 follow up has been taken up by many trainees. We are grateful to our local mentor for her support and for this service which is supporting young people to stay employed.
– Allison, SQW Program Manager MDA
Employment First Aid offer friendly, professional support for problematic staff by providing better ways to manage their personal and workplace challenges. Having several platforms for communication has made it easier to initiate and maintain contact with staff requiring guidance to improve their way of life. We just can’t thank Employment First Aid enough for the amazing changes they have initiated with our employees
